After a long day's ride that began in Calais following an early crossing, Chaumont was a very welcome stop. We were six motorcyclists heading down to the Rhone Alpes and felt very welcome at the Hotel des Ramparts. The parking worked well for us, tucked safely out of sight and secure enough. The restaurant is closed Mondays, so we had a very good meal outdoors nearby at Le Grain de Sel. Breakfast set us up nicely for the next day's ride.

The restaurant was the standout for me. We tried several dishes and everything tasted wonderful, was beautifully served, and made with local products. The breakfast buffet was really good too, with nearly everything homemade, including croissants, marmalade, cakes, and chocolate cream. From check-in through check-out, the service felt thoughtful and customer-focused. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and helpful. When the taxi service didn't work, they even helped us find transportation. The room was clean and well equipped, with a nice, comfortable bed. The lighting was quite harsh and white rather than warm, and the TV was very small, about 24 inches, but otherwise I had nothing to complain about.

Breakfast was excellent the morning after we arrived late in September. The manageress stayed beyond her shift to help park our car and bike securely and make sure we were comfortable in our room before she went off duty. Brava!

We had a really pleasant stay and would happily return. The welcome was lovely, and the food in both the restaurant and brasserie was very good. Our room was comfortable and clean. The toilet was a bit awkward to get onto for a larger guest, though manageable.

The food is DELICIOUS. You have to try the French fries and homemade profiteroles, sooooo good.
