Chateau monastere de la Corroirie

We left as soon as we could, and this is the first time I’ve ever walked out of a place right after arriving. We were so uneasy that we didn’t feel safe telling the owner and his colleague we wouldn’t be staying until we had already left. We were meant to be the only guests there with the two of them, and weren’t comfortable spending the night. I can’t recommend this place. When we arrived at 18:30, the owner and another person greeted us, and both seemed to have been drinking. They may have been drunk. There’s a vodka distillery on site, and one of them was soaked in “water” that I now suspect might have been vodka. The Corroirie also looked abandoned from the outside. The next 20 minutes were among the strangest I’ve ever spent at an establishment. During the room tour, they joked about us “bathing nude in front of the lawn,” called the breakfast they’d serve the next morning “industrial,” and kept saying we’d all be friends over the next few days. It felt far too familiar and unprofessional. Then came an unsolicited tour of the salon. The owner seemed so inebriated he couldn’t keep track of what he was saying, and told us his great-grandmother had been telekinetic. The whole thing felt eerie and scary. They also joked about a Swiss couple who had arrived the previous day, booked four nights, and left after just one without explaining why. I usually don’t leave negative reviews, but in this case I feel I have to. It’s no surprise that couple left, because we did too as soon as we could.

The views around this stunning chateau are beautiful, and the rooms were exceptionally clean and beautifully decorated, as was the rest of the monastere. We stayed for two nights, and Jeff was a wonderful host who took care of everything we needed. Breakfast was delicious both mornings. Highly recommend!

Jeff hosted us and explained everything clearly in good English. We had a really lovely stay at this beautiful place, and the breakfast was delicious. We’d recommend it as a 10/10. Thank you!

This chateau is worth visiting for more than just a night’s stop. We enjoyed touring the buildings and grounds, and found the rooms wonderful and the breakfast excellent.
