Dinner in Chenonceaux was relatively cheap, with the two dish set at 16.5 euros in Aug 2019. It was quite a generous amount, and we ate at tables in the hostel's beautiful backyard.

I've never had to get physical with someone to protect my family from a threat before. They tried to serve us inedible food, then threw us out when we sent it back, and physically threatened us, frightening my children, who are 6 and 4. Worst experience of my life. Unfortunately, I can't give less than one star.

We ordered water and were charged for mineral water, while other tables got a jug that, as expected, wasn't charged. The food is expensive for the amount you get, and nobody speaks anything close to English. If there's a problem, you either speak French or leave. The restaurant is awful, quite an awful place, definitely not recommended.

The food was typical French, with a good price for the quality. The garden at the back was very nice, and the staff were super friendly.

The food wasn't good. I heard a waitress talking about putting a cap back on a bottle and reselling it. Definitely somewhere to avoid.
