Breakfast was a treat, with Quentin’s home baked breads and cakes, freshly cooked eggs, freshly squeezed juice and other good food. He’s a wonderfully attentive, knowledgeable host who really wants to show guests the best of Cherbourg and goes the extra mile to make their stay pleasant. It’s a lovely small family-run hotel. I can only speak for my room, which was spacious and comfortable, with a quirky, homely feel. I was here for quite a long work trip, but coming back each evening felt like coming ‘home’. A real gem.

The rooms are on the small side, but the renovation made clever use of the space, and the double glazing kept things quiet. The hotel has plenty of character and a tasteful feel. It’s family-run, recently renovated, and the staff were friendly and spoke good English. There’s no lift, as is common in smaller European hotels. The owner kindly drove us to the ferry in the morning, with all 80kg of our luggage.

I wish I’d found this hotel sooner. The owners were so friendly, the breakfast was generous and good quality, and the decor throughout felt very thoughtfully done. I really enjoyed my stay.
