We ultimately chose not to stay, despite the owner refusing a refund, because we were worried about safety. The downstairs door was unlocked when we arrived, and either wouldn’t lock or was often left unlocked. Upstairs, loud music was playing, though it was still at a reasonable hour. When we opened the apartment door, we saw water dripping from a leak. There was a strong smell, and the floors were uneven throughout. The place clearly wasn’t ready. Some of that might have been overlooked, but the safety concerns decided it for us. Look elsewhere.

We had a fantastic stay. The apartment was pleasant and tastefully decorated, and it was close to both the city centre and the large free marina car park.

What a disappointment when we arrived. The listing promised a high-end, spacious, comfortable place in impeccable condition, but we found the opposite. We don’t recommend it, especially since there are many other places to stay in Cherbourg for a better price. Cleaning was clearly lacking, and the washing machine was dirty. The bed was poor quality and uncomfortable. The welcome tray was a nice gesture, but the biscuits had expired. For a place meant for four, there was only one wine glass. The shower was clogged, and a champagne glass in the cupboard was broken in two. We suspect the host hadn’t checked the property. It’s advertised as 55m², but the sloping ceiling makes it feel more like 25-30m² in reality. Tall people should avoid it.

Right in the center and a stone’s throw from the naval base, this place is clean, pleasant, cosy, and well equipped. A great spot for a short or long stay.
