We drove into town for dinner, but Chomerac is close enough for a hike, a little over an hour each way. There’s also a rail trail right by the chateau. The castle is run by a marquis and a knight, and we felt really welcome and well looked after.

The sunsets were breathtaking, and the swimming pool and park were lovely. We also got a warm welcome from the castle’s landlord, Yves-Michel FERRIÈRE DE LASSUS. It’s a fabulous castle from the time of Vercingetorix, the Gallic King, the era covered in the Asterix booklets and movies.

We had a really good time and would love to come back on our next trip down South. The surrounding area is beautiful, and the place itself is absolutely stunning and special. The owners are friendly and open, and the service is amazing. At Brechfirst, you feel like a king in a castle. Absolutely recommend it.
