After one night, we packed up and left, though we’d planned to stay 5 nights with our three children. The house is lovely and breakfast was very good, but communication was a complete disaster. I’d only recommend it to people who don’t plan to spend time at the property. We have friends in Beaune, so we asked the owners if they could visit. They said our friends were welcome and that we could use the whole garden. We had a nice dinner together, then the owners told us they no longer felt at home in their own house because of us. It seemed the invitation to use the garden hadn’t meant we could share a meal there. They said we should have used a table in a far corner instead of one of the three tables outside the main house. We couldn’t sort out the misunderstanding the next morning. The owners said we’d misunderstood what a bed and breakfast was, and we no longer felt welcome. That’s why we left after just one night.

We appreciated how calm it was, and the big garden was immaculate. Clos des Roseaux is a beautiful old family home just 5 minutes from Beaune. Our family suite was nicely decorated, with thoughtful touches that made us comfortable. The hosts were delightful, welcoming yet discreet. We’d recommend it to families and anyone who enjoys a peaceful stay in a charming home.
