Hotel Restaurant Les Gorges De Chouvigny

We came through so I could fish nearby, and the food turned out to be fantastic, among the best we've had in France so far. Eric, Patrick, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. What an amazing place, highly recommended!

We planned to sleep well before the next day's motorcycle ride, but I left exhausted and in pain. The bed was small, old, and uncomfortable, and the rooms were so noisy we could hear everyone moving. The shower was broken, and there was no room key when we first arrived. While my wife was just out of the shower, someone walked into our room. Restaurant service was slow despite the place not being busy: after our glasses were empty, we waited over an hour to be asked if we wanted another drink. Since we only wanted drinks, we had to sit outside at dirty tables, and my beer glass was too dirty to use. I was charged €5 for each small beer, although the menu listed €4. Avoid this hotel at all costs.

I came here as a teenager, when my uncle Brutus used to invite me and my parents, and the place still has the same charm. We had dinner here as a family last night and were enchanted by the riverside setting. The welcome was warm, the atmosphere felt family-run, and the food was delicious. I highly recommend this magical place.
