Les Digues Vauban

Thank you, Pierre. I loved the calm atmosphere and the wonderful sea views from the moment I arrived. The room was spotless and cozy, with a luxurious king-size bed that made for a restful night. I can’t wait to come back.

We got in late at night, but finding our room was easy. The owner’s instructions were clear, and Pierre answered our WhatsApp messages promptly and patiently, even though we’d booked at the last minute and were contacting him from the US. The house sits on a hill in a cul-de-sac, and we woke up to a lovely ocean view. It was about a 5-10 minute walk to a local bakery that we really enjoyed. The room itself was clean and felt homey. Pierre was cordial and shared suggestions for seeing the town like locals. The beach is just down the hill, with plenty of good restaurants and bars along it. Spain is also nearby, making this a great base for a two-day getaway to Donostia-San Sebastien, Spain, and a chance to experience different cultures and visit two countries in one trip. Highly recommend Pierre’s place!

The rooms are spacious and airy, with a large bathroom, comfortable beds, and a nice breakfast if you choose it. It seems well suited to families. The place is on a quiet hillside street with a nice view, between the two beaches and within walking distance of cafés and restaurants. I’d stay here again when visiting St Jean de Luz. For food, I recommend Ailaia restaurant or the fancy beach restaurant on the left. There are also little boutiques to shop in on the right side of town.

Pierre, thanks for a lovely stay. The surroundings were amazing, the views were pretty, the bed was comfortable, and breakfast was great. The host was very friendly, and booking at the last minute with our two bernese mountaindogs wasn’t a problem. We’ll recommend you highly!
