Villa La Croix Basque

Marie-France is what makes this place feel so special. She’s incredibly kind and goes out of her way to make sure your stay is just right. We had a wonderful short weekend at Villa de La Croix Basque. The location is exceptional, with a magnificent view of La Rhune mountain. Everything went perfectly, and our room had old-world charm where we slept very well. We’ll definitely be back!

The generous breakfast was full of fresh things: fruit, cheeses, cold cuts, different jams and fruit juices. There’s no dinner service at the house. Our host gave us excellent tips, which helped us make the most of the sightseeing and all there is to discover in this splendid region. We really appreciated the host’s kindness and his adorable little dog, Pepito. The house is a lovely, typically Basque one, peacefully set on a hillside with beautiful views. Our room was comfortable, and the en-suite bathroom had everything we needed. We also loved the private balcony and its magnificent view.

We have very fond memories of our stay. The Cocotte room was charming and peaceful, and made us see life through rose-colored glasses. Marie-France welcomed us warmly and gave us invaluable tips on places to see and restaurants. The charming Basque house is ideally located. Breakfast was generous, and we discovered how delicious sheep’s cheese is with black cherry jam.

After 48 hours at Marie France’s, we left absolutely delighted and eager to return. The house is charming, elegant and welcoming, with comfortable, authentic rooms and a view of the Pyrenees. Marie France has such natural kindness and knows the area perfectly. Contact her directly and she’ll go out of her way to give you the best service. She really makes guests feel expected and pampered, with a welcome drink, breakfast featuring a thousand local jams, fruit cake, and a wonderful atmosphere. We highly recommend it. Many thanks again!
