Le Domaine de la Lorien

Breakfast was a lovely start to the day, with Vendée brioche, fresh bread, local butter, a hot drink of our choice, homemade yogurt, and delicious homemade mirabelle plum jam. Since I usually prefer savory food in the morning, they made a special effort for me. There was also a kettle with hot chocolate or tea and little madeleines for a quick treat. The room had everything we needed, and the bathroom showed so much thought: very clean ventilation, good quality towels for body and face or hair, hooks for our things, a small shower basket for toiletries, tissues, spare toilet paper, and even two floor towels so our feet could dry after showering. Outside, the courtyard opens onto a big garden with sun loungers, kids' games, a hammock, and tables and chairs. The gorgeous white dogs greeted us with quite a lot of barking, but one word from their owner was enough to settle them. You can see the affection and respect between them. We arrived at a peaceful property, and the owner's kindness made it easy to unwind. Leaving was a little sad, though we hope to return. The room was just right, with really comfortable bedding, and the owners were so friendly. We stayed for two nights in August 2019 with our two teenagers. They had a great time playing with the dogs. It's a calm, relaxing spot near Puy du Fou.

Breakfast and dinner were both wonderful, and the rooms and decor were just right. Corinne, the owner, is one of the loveliest people I've met. I travel a lot, so I don't say that lightly. The place is very clean and peaceful, with a genuinely warm welcome and the kind of friendliness you don't come across much anymore. Such a little paradise. Thank you again, and see you soon! :D

We picked Corinne's place while spending two days at Puy du Fou, and the drive was about 30 minutes. Our room, Arwen, was spacious and clean, with an en-suite bathroom that was spotless and practical. Breakfast was complete, beautifully laid out, and always brought with a smile. The house and its setting are magnificent, and we felt warmly welcomed. We also got to admire the lovely white dogs on the property. If dogs aren't your thing, they stay in their own fenced green area. A place I'd recommend.
