The owners went out of their way to meet our needs, nothing felt like too much trouble. We loved our short stay in this peaceful, friendly place. Everything was just right and it felt very much like home.

The owners' behavior spoiled the party. The owner did resolve problems and seemed to want things to go well, but his overall conduct was still unacceptable. He interrupted the wedding ceremony, drank at the bar, stayed among the guests all day, gave directions, imposed his preferences and schedule, and kept watch over everyone. At times he was pleasant, at others unpleasant, and he raised his voice in a very unpleasant way when something displeased him. Their dog was friendly, but had no place spending the whole day among the guests, especially in the dining room begging for food. When you rent the property, the owner shouldn't be there unless invited, or should at least keep a low profile. It's a shame, because the setting itself is beautiful, with a lovely pond, a superb swimming pool and a pétanque court. Despite that, I can't recommend it for this reason alone. January 21st: In response to the owner, who is judging without knowing the facts, I don't drink alcohol. Business owners can simply describe what really happened instead of lecturing people. You say, "Rest assured, most of our couples are happy," and that is exactly the problem. 100% should be happy, but because of you that figure is nowhere near being reached, as the many negative reviews show. Something to think about...

The rooms were really comfortable and we slept very well. L’orangerie is beautiful, with carefully chosen decor and a peaceful feel. The park and lake make the setting even lovelier, and the owner deserves a special mention for being so welcoming and friendly. A wonderful experience, we'd happily recommend it. Nothing to fault.

The uncertainty about access to the venue the day before the wedding was the one small downside. Some places let you in that morning, while seminars are sometimes held here. We got the afternoon, but luckily we had plenty of people to help set up, and the venue is so beautiful it didn't need much decorating. We chose Orangerie de Chatel for our wedding and loved the place: a large park with a pond, five very spacious modern bedrooms, plus nearby accommodation for guests, which was a real bonus. The welcome was very warm. The owners live on site, but their presence didn't bother us; communication was open and constructive. The change from cocktail hour to the reception was another highlight, with balloons released and fireworks. Sublime, magnificent, exceptional! I'd recommend the establishment, just talk through your expectations about the owners being around, as they're very accommodating. The dog didn't bother us either. It's adorable and wasn't there that evening.
