Kyriad Clermont-Ferrand Centre

Most things were good: the location, spacious rooms, breakfast and friendly staff. But an afternoon receptionist let the stay down. She gave me wrong information about parking and seemed in a bad mood, with no willingness to help. The night receptionist also didn't seem to understand what I meant by a pillow. I know I was in France and could have used my phone to translate, but I'd left it in the room. Asking for a pillow doesn't seem like an unusual hotel request. Apart from that, everything else was good.

The two young women at reception were very friendly, and the location was great. Breakfast was excellent. The kettle could have been emptied, and there was a sewage smell in the bathroom. Otherwise, all good.

We stayed one night and would use this hotel again if passing through. It's a good stopover, very central and close to the main square, with lots of cafes and bars. The bedrooms are small but have what you need for a comfortable night: TV, air con, hairdryers, and tea and coffee facilities. The bathrooms were clean and a good size. Breakfast was a continental spread with plenty of choice. We parked in the small secure car park under the main hotel, and there was plenty of on-street parking nearby too.

The location was convenient for getting around the city, and breakfast was okay. Beyond that, I found it a depressing hotel with a poor standard. The tiny rooms and corridors felt claustrophobic, and there was just one lift for eight floors. It seemed to be falling apart, and the staff weren't always friendly. You can't book parking ahead or ask them to reserve a space for a stay of a few days. There are many better options at this price.
