Apartment les Violettes

Parking is a bonus if you're renting a car, and from there it's an easy 5-minute walk to the tourist spot. The place has an old-fashioned, unique feel and might suit people who like authentic places. Keep in mind there's no elevator, so hauling a lot of luggage up the stairs is hard. I also wouldn't choose it in summer, since there's no air conditioning.

One star because I can't give zero. The apartment was on the top floor, with no elevator, and the stairs were dark and run-down. Worse, there was no electricity, so we had to carry our luggage up in those conditions. I booked it because parking was included, but we couldn't use it because the host had misplaced the access card. Getting help was difficult, and the manager's limited English made communication hard. At first she questioned whether the card was missing, then told us to park nearby overnight, since it was free, and said she'd bring the card the next day, when we were checking out. We asked to have it by 8:30 a.m. at the latest. It never came, and nobody answered our calls.

It was a cute little apartment in the city center, but there was only a double bed for our family of four, including two teenage boys. I had to work out how to turn the sofa into a bed and set it up myself. This happened to me in a hotel during the autumn holidays. We book for four and give the boys' ages, but whenever I see only a double bed, I start to panic.

The host was quick to respond, and the little duplex is charming. It's right by the entrance to the historic district, with the covered parking access badge just a 2-minute walk away. Be ready for a climb, though, it's on the 3rd floor and there's no elevator...1
