Best Western Colmar Expo

We’ve stayed here for several years while driving between Italy and the UK. It used to be a Comfort Hotel and is now a Best Western. There’s ample parking in a secure, gated lot, and the bar serves snacks. The rooms are clean, the beds comfortable, and the bathrooms modern with good showers. Every time, without exception, the staff have been polite, cheerful, and efficient. It’s good value, and we’ll keep coming back.

We booked two rooms for one night on our drive home from Italy, but were given just one with an extra cot. There were five of us, and when we explained we’d booked two because the hotel policy allows a maximum of four per room, they said one would be fine since our youngest was four. At first we thought they were helping a large family save 200 euros. The day after we left, though, they took 200 euros from my credit card for “cancellation costs for the second room.” We contacted them and could show we had been there and had asked for that room, but the receptionist got annoyed and eventually hung up. The room was only 20m2, about 28 degrees with five people in it, and the air conditioning barely worked, apparently for eco reasons. Breakfast was limited, and the apples in the fruit basket were rotten. Horrendous experience. Avoid at all costs!

A good night’s sleep, with safe parking, and it’s near the motorway.

The rooms are spacious, and the front desk staff are lovely. I also liked the generous choice of complimentary coffee and tea. The parking is safe and private, and you’re very close to downtown by car as well as the highway.
