The location was great, and the room was beautiful, spacious, and clean. But I’m giving the owner a 1 because of what happened after our stay. We sometimes had no hot water in the shower, which was especially difficult in winter. The heating kept going up and down; on the first day it was cold all day, and on the second, one heater was switched off a few hours earlier than we’d been told. The towels and the building entrance also had a strange smell. We originally gave the place an 8. Then the owner lied in a comment, saying we showered four times a day, that it was raining when we arrived and they let us in early because of that, and that we never told him about the problems. This is the first time in all our travels that I’ve given a 1 for that reason. An owner should listen and put things right when something’s wrong, instead of lying over a rating.

The hosts are kind and helpful, and the Alsatian-style building is right at the edge of the pedestrian area. It’s handy for unloading bags, then walking into the center in a few minutes without taking the car. The room is cute, furnished well, and quite romantic. There’s no lift, though, and parking nearby costs money. For free parking, try by the Intermarché supermarket, about 1 km or a ten-minute walk away. The bed is soooo soft. The bathroom is small and has no bidet, but the large, charming shower is separated from the bedroom by glass ;-). There’s no closet, so the sofa bed in the bedroom has been set up as a handy walk-in closet. The kitchenette is tiny, with a portable induction hob like a camping stove, microwave, fridge, and sink. Breakfast for two is fine, but I wouldn’t rely on it for lunch or dinner. We did, but it wasn’t very comfortable. The finishes in the room and on the stairs look like renovation work might be going on, though they could just be an unusual style choice. Highly recommended, just not for the kitchen. Have a wonderful holiday! Colmar really is a wonderful city.

ELIE owns the apartment and runs the shop downstairs, and he was available whenever we had questions. Markets and bakeries nearby made it easy to prepare our own meals and breakfast in the room, which has a kitchenette, microwave, plates, cutlery, and other basics. Comfort was good. Everything is about a six-minute walk away. The apartment is in a nearly 300-year-old wooden building with two rooms. The floor slopes because of the wood construction, but that wasn’t a problem.

Elie welcomed us himself and was very friendly. The studio is right in the heart of Colmar, a great choice for a long romantic weekend. It’s been renovated with good taste and is practical, with a small kitchen, a spacious bathroom, and comfortable bedding.

The room was very nice, with its own bathroom and shower. It has windows, curtains, and a fan, and there’s a washer and dryer available. I recommend it 👍
