Hôtel Libéra Caen

The rooms were comfortable, and having a small kitchen made this good value for money for a stay of a few days. We made our own breakfast because the hotel breakfast seemed a bit expensive, as it does in most places. There’s a U supermarket within walking distance with what you need for basic meals. The units are separate, pre-built-looking buildings with a couple of rooms or more, though that didn’t bother us. We had no noise or other issues, and our room was cleaned every day. It worked well as a base for visiting Normandy, with most places about 30-45 minutes away. There’s free private parking and a few electric chargers, which I didn’t use. Recommended.

The only thing that bothered me was the street light right outside our room. There was netting instead of full curtains, so it felt too bright, though I still got a decent night's sleep. The beds were comfortable, and the room was quiet, spacious, and had AC for anyone who likes it cold. Staff were very friendly, and the 24-hour front desk plus a well-lit car park made the place feel secure enough. Since our ferry from the UK arrived late, it was just right for a night's rest before continuing in the morning. If you don't want tap water, bring a bottle, or you'll need to buy one at the bar.

The staff were brilliant and the place was very, very clean. We stayed two nights and thought it was fantastic, especially for the price. Top marks to everyone there. Thanks, and we'll definitely be back next year.

The welcome from the reception staff really made our stay. The rooms are spacious, comfortably fit three, and each has its own balcony. The hotel doesn't serve dinner on weekends, but the lady at reception told us which places were open. After we came back with a takeaway pizza to eat in the restaurant area, our host went out of her way to set the table and bring us water. We weren't expecting service like that. There's also an electric car charger and secure bike storage. Such a welcoming place, and I'd gladly return and recommend it.
