Au Lavoir

The location is handy for staying in town, and the rooms were clean and really nice. The staff were friendly too.

The cheese trolley alone was a treat, with 19 pungent choices. We also had an exquisite three-course meal for only €35. The staff went above and beyond to adapt the menu cleverly for my pregnant wife. We’ll be recommending it to all our friends!

The restaurant was very good, both the food and the staff, which made the stay in two rooms for six nights all the more disappointing. The rooms had air conditioning, but neither unit worked. With the windows open, we got fumes from the bar manager chain-smoking, along with the sound of him revving his motorcycle. He had Harley Davidson clothes and posters everywhere, and it looked like the brand had thrown up on him. We were locked out at 10:30 on the first night, with no directions to the code pad, which was on an unmarked neighboring building. Coffee supplies dwindled from two sachets on night one to one on night two, then none. Cleaning stopped after day three, and we had to ask for toilet paper because basic supplies weren't being checked. Both rooms had bathtubs, but one plug didn't fit, so the tub couldn't be filled, and the other had no water supply.

We always enjoy eating at the au lavoir, but this visit was my favorite so far. Having Laurent as our waiter added such a great personality to an already lovely place.
