Les Granges de la Leigne, Ruffec

Suzi’s menu for my Pilates retreat was superb, and everyone had a wonderful day. I held it at Suzi & Jon’s gorgeous French hideaway, where we were welcomed so warmly. Jup kept everyone entertained and even joined the class. The pool is fantastic, and after Pilates Suzi led a great Aqua class. I can’t imagine finding more hospitable hosts.

Les Granges de la Leigne has plenty of character, just as you’d expect from an ancient Templers house, and there’s a high-standard swimming pool with several places to relax. The hosts explained the work still underway, which is clearly intended to make guests even more comfortable. Suzi and Jon treated my elderly mother-in-law with such kindness and care, as if she were their own. We also shared an excellent evening meal with them. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the accommodation or the hosts.

The room was spotless and just right for a one-night stop on our French road trip. Before a fabulous continental breakfast, we enjoyed some lovely walks nearby. Suzi and Jon welcomed us warmly, along with Jupe, the absolutely GORGEOUS pup. We had dinner and wine with our hosts, chatted away, and left with some great recommendations for the region. We’d love to come back.

We picked Ruffec for its handy position as an overnight stop on our annual drives to and from Spain. Les Granges was easy to find with satnav, and Jon and Suzi made us feel very welcome. The property is delightful, near the banks of the Charente river, and our room was lovely. Dinner and breakfast filled the gap perfectly. We arrived as guests and left as friends. Our only regret was not having more time there. We’ll certainly return and plan a longer stop to enjoy the area and their hospitality.
