Camping de Mars

The manager was friendly and kind, which was the one bright spot for me. The pitch itself had a great view across the reservoir, but honestly the site seemed barely ready to open. Building materials had been dumped behind the toilet block, so men had to use the women’s shower block. The shower water was nearly stone cold, and the whole place needed a proper deep clean before opening. I didn’t want to be harsh with the manager.

We were welcomed warmly, and our pitch had water, electricity, and a drive-over drain. The views are some of the best we’ve had from a campsite. There’s a cafe on site too. It was a shame the pool was being improved while we were there, but it should be lovely once the work is done.

We came across this place at the last minute while heading to our holiday destination, and were so glad we stopped. The staff were friendly and made us feel at home, even though we arrived close to 10pm. They still managed to serve us dinner despite the late hour. In the morning we had a quick swim in the pool. Great location, incredible view, and the staff really deserve five stars.

The view is incredible, and with temperatures at 36 degrees, having air conditioning in our cabin was a lifesaver. The pizzas were great too. There weren’t many kids around in June. The pool has been renovated and now includes a jacuzzi, though that means there’s no separate children’s pool. One end is still very shallow. The nearest shop is about 15 minutes away.
