Grand Hôtel de Clermont

The neighbourhood is good, and the man at the front desk was warm and friendly. There’s a cozy pub downstairs where you can help yourself to a drink. It’s a basic hotel, but well worth what we paid. I saw complaints about unexpected taxes and fees. When you book online, you only pay about 70% of the total upfront, and settle the remaining balance, including taxes and fees, at the hotel.

I wouldn’t stay here again. The bar practically inside the building is extremely loud, with music going late into the night and making it nearly impossible to sleep. The cleanliness was very basic, below what I expected. They also charged an extra fee for checking in after 20:00, which felt unreasonable. The tourist taxes seemed fraudulent to me. They justified them by saying they were “unclassified” as a tourism business, which simply isn’t true. The place wasn’t worth the price or the experience advertised.

I booked directly through the hotel’s site using the details on Google Maps, and had no issues. The listing there is pretty complete. The rooms also stayed at a great temperature despite it being pretty cold outside, which was a bonus. Clean place, nice reception, good price, and a perfect location for exploring nearby spots. I liked it.

It’s easy to find, right by the metro in what I think is Monmartre’s best neighborhood. The room is very basic, but fine for sleeping if you’re out all day. It was warm, and the beds were small but comfortable. Rayane at reception was polite and very helpful.
