La Mare aux Bambous

The garden and pool were lovely places to unwind after sightseeing, and there was a whole play area for children in the common spaces. We stayed in the spacious Symphonie room, with its tasteful decor, comfortable bed, extra bed for our 12-year-old daughter, and clean, modern, practical bathroom. La Mare aux Bambous felt like a green little hideaway on the edge of the village. We spent five nights there as a family and were sorry to leave. Erick and Simone were warm, kind, and always helpful, including with planning our outings. They know the area so well and gave us great advice. Meals were a real pleasure. Breakfast came with fresh pastries, fruit, and homemade jams, and there was plenty of it. Erick's dinners used high-quality local ingredients and were wonderful, whether we ate on our own or with the other guests. Those evenings led to relaxed, interesting conversations and lovely encounters. The stay ended up being far beyond what we'd expected.

We were really pleased with the meals at Simone and Erick's, both generous and made to a high standard. They also gave us great tips on local products, including a wine cellar and cheeses. It's a charming place, with roomy bedrooms and comfortable beds. We'd definitely come back.

The building itself is magnificent, and the rooms are superb. We found the place remarkably quiet and quite unusual, with hosts who were both professional and warm. The food featured local products and was high quality, while breakfast was generous and varied. We'd highly recommend staying here when visiting Beauval Zoo or the Loire Valley castles.

A good base for a trip to Beauval Zoo, with plenty for children too: there's a fully equipped play attic and a fun outdoor play area with a trampoline. The owners are friendly and have made beautiful rooms with all the amenities you need. Erick cooks delicious food with local ingredients.
