La Saboia

Saboia B sits back from the centre of La Tania, so it’s a quiet, comfortable place. The apartments are generally light and airy, with balconies looking up toward the tops of the pistes. There’s an outside-access ski locker, plus parking, either indoors or outdoors depending on the apartment. Skiing in and out is possible when conditions allow. The apartments are great, and La Tania has what you need for a self-catering stay, including a small supermarket. The village centre is away from the main road, which you can’t even see while having a hot chocolate. There are no cars in La Tania, and the shops, ski hire, restaurants, and pub all surround a large pedestrian area at the foot of the pistes. That worked brilliantly for our young family. La Tania has some lovely pistes of its own and suits families with a mix of skiing and boarding abilities. Its spot in the 3 Valleys is also outstanding. From the lifts at the top, turn left for Courchevel, with wide pistes, pretty scenery, and runs for all abilities, as well as the famous Saulire lift and its premium services. Turn right for Meribel, which looks like a chocolate box, then go beyond it to the more exposed Val Thorens. We love skiing over there because it feels wilder and more open. Happy times!

The self-catering apartments are clean and practical. Getting one with a sauna is a nice bonus.

We were four people staying for a week, on the fifth floor, and the elevator made getting there easy. The apartment had two bedrooms with two beds, a small kitchenette with a dishwasher, microwave, stovetop, coffee maker, and kettle. There was a separate toilet, a bathroom with a tub, and another with a shower and sauna. The furniture was quite rustic, but adequate. Our gear could go in the ski cellar, though there was no electric boot dryer for ski or snowboard boots. The building is quiet and close to the slopes, so we felt it was good value for money.

The reception was top-notch. The room was well appointed, with a TV, and there were excellent amenities, including a sauna, washing machine, well-equipped kitchenette, and a lovely balcony.
