We were eating dinner on the chalet’s second floor when someone was breaking in downstairs. Our family, including children, was inside the building at the time, and the thought of running into the burglars is frightening. I believe our lives were at real risk. The children have been deeply affected: since we got home, they’ve been scared to stay alone in a room, constantly stressed, and feeling unsafe. That kind of impact doesn’t go away quickly. The burglary happened in the final days of our stay at Les 3 Chalets in Courchevel. Jewelry, limited edition watches, designer bags, a lot of cash, and personal papers, including a passport, were taken. We reported it to the police right away, but so far the investigation has produced no results. Losing the passport caused further trouble and expense. Some of our family couldn’t leave on time, and because it happened over the weekend, we had to urgently reach out to many people and services to get temporary documents so we could leave the country. It brought extreme stress and significant financial losses that basic security measures could have prevented. The chalet manager, Marie-Pierre, showed no attention to the issue. After something so serious, we got no apology, sympathy, or sense that anyone took responsibility for guest safety, even though children’s lives were at risk. The staff service also fell short of what the chalet costs. The housekeeper, Constancia, was rude, ignored our requests, and repeatedly didn’t do her work on time. The driver, Rudolf, was unfriendly and didn’t always carry out his duties properly, which made the experience worse. We have serious concerns about how the burglars acted. They seemed very confident and appeared to know where valuables, money, and documents were kept. That leaves us wondering whether someone may have known the house layout and where our belongings were. We aren’t making a direct accusation, but there were no cameras, alarm system, or access control, and the owners need to respond to that concern. We didn’t receive a response. This expensive chalet, aimed at wealthy clients, has no basic security measures: no cameras, alarm, security staff, or access control. We were left with stolen property and money, extra expenses, intense stress, and lasting effects on our children, while the chalet continued taking new guests and projecting an image of luxury and safety. We feel obliged to warn others that guests here aren’t protected physically or emotionally, and the service and responsibility don’t match the price. If you’re travelling with family, children, and valuables, think carefully before booking.
