Chambres d'hôtes Le Moulin de Crouy

The meals were shockingly poor in both quantity and quality. Dinner and breakfast left us with hardly anything to eat, and the coffee machine didn't work. No one checked whether we needed anything, so when something was missing or broken, we had to chase the owners. We even had to ask repeatedly for paper napkins. A garbage trolley sat right beside the dining table, and the metal rustic table and hard chairs felt worse than a school cafeteria. The photos don't show that setup. We were three, but wine and glasses were put out for only two. Basic things like the room key, towels, and wine glasses took several requests. The towels were paper-thin, the old, rough bed linen irritated my skin so much I nearly got a rash, and cobwebs covered the windows. There was one soap dispenser to share between the shower and sink, which was inconvenient. The place has new owners, and our experience was terrible. The owners were rude and inhospitable, and seemed not to care that guests were unhappy or to take feedback seriously. We paid restaurant prices but weren't provided proper food. It felt like they were doing us a favor by serving anything. This gite was bad across the board, with deficient service and a bad attitude from the owners. A total rip-off, and a place to avoid.

We had a great weekend at the Moulin for a 30th birthday, making use of the games on site and taking a short trip to Chambord.

The location was pleasant, but that couldn't make up for how dirty the rooms were. There were flies and insects on the floor, cobwebs everywhere, and dust bunnies beneath the beds. The bathrooms were barely acceptable. The owner was unpleasant and rude, and really ought to find another line of work.

A relaxing base close to the castles, with plenty to do on site: a pool, billiards, tennis, and swings. The hosts have put together a thoughtfully designed property. We'd recommend it for couples, families with children, or teenagers.
