Domaine La Parpaille

The grounds felt like paradise, with birds often the only sound among the trees, flowers, vineyards, and wildflowers. Eve is a generous, hardworking, kind hostess who carries the daily workload with grace. We enjoyed her breakfast, and I joked that we'd eaten better than King Charles that day. My husband and I spent nine nights in the "SOUS L’AMANDIER" COTTAGE and already plan to return next year for much longer. It's a serene, spacious, creative, classic and classy house, with everything needed for a comfortable stay: a washing machine, dishwasher, kitchen essentials, and even three toilets, which felt like a real luxury. You won't want for anything.

The pool area was lovely and loungey, and wonderfully quiet. We enjoyed it on days we weren't out exploring. Cucuron and Lourmarin are well worth visiting, especially on market morning. Eve and Leah helped us book good local restaurants, which brought us into the beautiful interior of Cucuron for a lovely meal at La Dame Jeanne. Our server was SO nice, though sadly we can't remember her name. The Domaine's grounds were beautiful, and our four nights in Mon Amour were peaceful and relaxing. The room was stylish, with quality linens and towels, lovely views, and plenty of space to unpack, including bathroom counter space for two carry-on bags and a roomy armoire. The bed was comfortable, though closer to a queen than a king. We could have used a couple more hooks for pool towels, and a mini fridge or shared guest refrigerator would be handy for picnic food since the maison is a drive from restaurants. Breakfast was one of the best we've had while traveling, especially on our first morning, with homemade yogurt, jams and honey, eggs, fruit, croissants, and other breads. Leah and Alexandra were friendly and helpful. Eve, though, was unfriendly and nearly wordless with us after the aperó evening we attended, almost hostile. We asked her to chill wine from a local vineyard she'd recommended a couple of days earlier. When we asked her to get it, we felt we were inconveniencing her, which made things very uncomfortable. I assume she was tired after a late night, but it was unpleasant, especially after we'd bought wine, cocktails, and food from them and had been enjoying a relaxing stay. Since we were paying, her mood left us feeling very put off. We were also charged a 6E corkage fee without being told beforehand. I hope Eve understands how her mood affects guests, because otherwise this was a wonderful place to stay.

Ève and her staff made our stay at the beautiful Domaine La Parpaille so special, with impressive attention to detail. I found it through Margaret at Fora Travel @margaretspassport, and it felt like Cucuron's slow living GEM. When my bf proposed during the trip, Ève added personal touches that made the moment even more special. The Romance room was just right for two, quaint but still luxurious. The Domaine mascots were a bonus too. Thank you, Ève and crew. We hope to return soon.

The rooms at Parpaille are idyllic, full of lovely little touches, and the location is perfect. Eve makes a lovely breakfast each morning. We're already looking forward to coming back.
