A really cool place 👍

The service was perfect.

I was surprised by some of the very harsh reviews. The host spells out the drawbacks under “Caution,” including the busy street and the second-floor rooms reached by stairs. At under €50 a night, I also wouldn’t expect high-end amenities. The old house has some lovely original details, especially the handmade window fittings and floor tiles. It’s nearly 200 years old, and replacing the single-glazed windows would take away from its character. Still, the upkeep needs a lot of work. It would be a shame to lose these features, and as a host I’d do everything I could to maintain them. The shared spaces were attractive, with a spectacular view from the dining table. Every room has its own shower and toilet, and there’s a parking lot across the street. We were warmly received and well cared for. They accommodated our requests and even helped carry our luggage upstairs.

Our Wonderbox booking was cancelled the day before, so I can only comment on the service. I know unexpected problems happen, but having worked in hotels and restaurants myself, I would have tried to find clients somewhere else to stay. I was just told to look on Booking.com. I hope this doesn’t spoil our first anniversary together.
