Le Trophee

The pool was beautiful, and it’s convenient having lots of restaurants and the beach nearby. Our room was spacious, and the staff were nice. There’s also a good range of snacks delivered to the room at any hour for reasonable prices, including sandwiches, salads and pizza. By French standards they’re full meals, really. Breakfast was great too, though €14 felt a little pricey. Overall, a good basic hotel.

Hearing horses walk down the street each morning was a lovely way to wake up, especially if you’re into horses. My room had air conditioning and shutters, though my client’s didn’t. The room itself wasn’t especially attractive, and the toilet flush wasn’t strong enough.

The small pool is pretty, and the beach is close by. Deauville is tiny, though, so most places are reasonably accessible. Our smallish Superior room had no decoration, and there wasn’t a refrigerator in the room, which would make a longer stay difficult. The place feels cramped, including the reception area and lobby. The desk staff were patient and helpful, but not especially warm. We might come back for the pool, though next time we’d look for somewhere with more space, character, and warmth.

We had to change rooms at 11pm and were moved downstairs into one that stank. Nobody apologized or offered a discount, and the manager was rude and disrespectful. The other staff looked embarrassed and sorry, but seemed unable to help. A disgraceful service experience.
