Hôtel Les Carrettes

The food was the worst part of our stay, and the smell in the evenings was awful. Breakfast barely changed: pastries, cheese, ham and cereal, day after day. Dinner was just as disappointing. The leek soup had fibrous bits, the salad tasted mostly of vinegar, and somehow the main dishes and desserts all came out bland and tasting alike. Their tiramisu had coffee-soaked Christmas cookies instead of ladyfingers and a very thick cream with no real depth. Two people found hair in the pistachio cream, which didn't taste of pistachio anyway. One person with a nut allergy was given sweetened yogurt instead. We were also served orange juice that tasted spoiled, and our group couldn't buy wine glasses. A family couldn't bring a birthday cake for a young girl, so the hotel gave them that same tiramisu. On the fifth day, the food was inedible, and we waited an hour for each course; a waiter's ring even fell near the food. The last day's meal was edible, perhaps because we'd complained to the manager. Calling the ingredients fresh doesn't make the food good. I would close the kitchen and get rid of the head chef. The service wasn't much better. Staff came across as rude, and the waiters slid dishes onto the table instead of serving them. Our table was arranged in a line, and the waitress reached across it rather than walking around to place dishes. That's basic restaurant service. Our room arrangements were wrong too. Friends who booked separately were put in the same rooms, and my dad and I had reserved a 26-square-metre room with two beds. We got three beds in about 12 square metres. I know this is a three-star hotel, but the food and service were terrible.
