Auberge K-Wan Hostel

I stayed 10 days in the four-bed mixed dorm. It was very humid, and mosquitoes were everywhere, in the dorms and shared spaces. I'd suggest bringing a small portable mosquito net for sleeping. There were also large insects in the kitchen and common area (see photos), and a sewage smell that spread throughout the hostel. The bathroom door wouldn't lock, the shower pressure was very low, the pillows felt like old cushions, and you could hear cars from the dorm and common room. Roosters also woke me at night with their crowing. The atmosphere felt pretty dull. A French traveler told me she'd never seen anything like it in a year of traveling the world. It would be nice if management organized some events. I would recommend this hostel only to experienced travelers who need a base for the Deshaies beaches and don't mind insects or basic amenities. On the plus side, Blandine, the hostel manager, was very kind. They brought a fan to my dorm because I was hot, and I met some really interesting people there.

A decent six-bed dormitory hostel and a good base for visiting Basse-Terre. The welcome was excellent. My only complaint is that one of the owners wasn't pleasant at all and didn't say hello, while the other was lovely.

I slept very badly because the beds were too small and the bedding hurt my back. The place is right beside the road, and there's no soundproofing. It's clean, but needs some modernization, especially for the price per night. The reception was friendly, though nothing exceptional. I was very disappointed, since the location is really poor.

I booked three nights, but when I saw the studio, I stayed zero nights and had to find somewhere else urgently. The website photos were nothing like the room I found. It was very run-down and beside the road, with thin curtains that didn't block light and no insulation. Even the smallest noise seemed to be right in the room. There were holes in the windows, so mosquitoes were everywhere, and parking was extremely limited, almost nonexistent. There was no atmosphere either. I wouldn't recommend it at all, and can't understand the good reviews.
