The dining room has a lovely atmosphere, and breakfast there is a pleasure. The food is very good too. This hotel has a character all its own, shaped by a long family history and carried on by the owner's new generation. It feels original in a way I haven't found elsewhere. I've been coming here since my first stay in 1982, 36 years ago. Back then, the owner was Mr. Jean-Jacques Ricaud, the second generation. He was generous and warm-hearted, as well as one of the best French cuisine chefs in the world. His father founded the hotel by remodeling Digne's old historic Monastery building, which gives the place its distinctive feel. There are no lifts or escalators, so don't expect a modern hotel. Now Naomi, the third generation, owns the hotel. She had an interest in the business from childhood and took care of it after Mr. Ricaud passed away. She's a charming, lovely owner, and I can guarantee a wonderful stay. If you want a newly modernized room, a large modern hotel or your own remodeled house may suit you better. But if you want a beautiful, special experience with an artistic flavor, I think you'll enjoy staying here as I do.
