Campanile Dijon Nord - Toison d'Or

The stay itself was pleasant and the staff seemed nice, which makes what happened after checkout such a shame. My card was charged €25 without authorization, and I received an invoice for “Frais de Bagage” with no explanation. It took several emails and days to get a reply. Once the manager realized I had noticed the charge, they became rude and aggressive. The story changed to a claim that I'd taken a cup from the room, which wasn't true. Reception had already confirmed my bill was paid in full at checkout, so it seemed they hoped the extra charge would slip by. They wouldn't remove it, so I disputed it with my bank as a fraudulent transaction. I raised the issue with the hotel's parent company, Louvre Hotels Group. They said the hotel's conduct was “unacceptable and completely incompatible with our brand image,” but that came too late. Otherwise, the hotel stay had been good.

The room was pretty clean, and the bed was comfortable enough for a good night's sleep. I enjoyed the tuna steak, though I skipped the virgin sauce. Julie didn't like the chicken supreme, and the macaroon belle Helene dessert wasn't to our taste, though I'm sure some people would enjoy it. We skipped breakfast the next morning, but my cafe au lait was good. For what we got, I thought the price was too high.

This was my second time staying at this Campanile in 2025. The rooms are good, and breakfast has a tasty range of choices, though the powdered scrambled egg was a letdown. The restaurant menu is limited, but the food is really good. Five stars from me, aside from that egg.

A nice breakfast, and a good place to get some sleep while travelling.
