Grand Hôtel La Cloche Dijon - MGallery Collection

I booked two rooms since my family and I need two bathrooms and toilets for our everyday needs. The hotel staff kindly put us in adjoining rooms. From my room there’s a lovely view of Porte Guillaume and Place Percy, and the location was a real plus. The room is cleverly designed to make good use of the space. I also found it handy that the dressing area door can be angled to separate the bedroom from the entrance. I’d happily recommend this hotel for a stay in Dijon.

The spa was the letdown. We booked in early October for a mid-December stay mainly because of it, but nobody said we needed reservations. When we tried to book, it was full for hotel guests, though still open to outside visitors. There was no excuse or alternative offered, which was a real disappointment. The rest was genuinely great: a lovely, clean and comfortable hotel in a great location, with friendly staff. We paid €650 for one night, two rooms and three guests, which felt fair for the quality.

We were lucky to find this fantastic place for my 65th birthday after the VRBO we’d planned to stay in turned out filthy, very moldy, and uninhabitable for us. It became our home base for exploring Dijon, the surrounding vineyards, and the food. The hotel has the feel you’d want for a French village stay, with a perfect location for walking or taking the tram. The attractive modern rooms and artwork sit beautifully alongside the historic building. We look forward to coming back!

The toilet was separate from the bathroom but had no basin for washing my hands, and there was no bidet. The room felt cramped. The shower was in the bath with no screen, so the floor got wet and slippery. The exhaust fan, if it was working, wasn’t enough. The climate control didn’t seem to work either, and we couldn’t sleep because of the heat. It was December, so opening a window wasn’t practical. One bathrobe smelled of massage oil and clearly hadn’t been checked before it was put in the room. On one occasion, while I was resting, Housekeeping opened the door without knocking and was about to come in. When I asked who was there, the door shut quickly. I complained and was told to hang a do not disturb sign to avoid unwanted intrusion.
