O'lodges by Arvor Hotel

Good to be back at this hotel. The room was comfortable, and the staff were incredibly helpful and resourceful. The breakfast buffet was excellent, though the food and drinks were spread across several spots in the dining room, which felt a bit odd. One drawback for cyclists is that there’s no covered storage for bikes. A hotel of this standard should have somewhere dry to keep them overnight.

We had a spacious lodge with a comfortable bed, just a short walk from the main hotel. It’s a lovely place in the middle of Dinan, and I’d happily come back.

The breakfast was disappointingly mediocre, and I’d have been better off eating elsewhere in town. The service, though, was excellent. The hotel sits right in the historic centre, and the rooms were clean and well maintained, if a little old-fashioned. They still have plenty of charm.

We were greeted with a smile and a bonjour every time, and the team took the time to explain how breakfast was laid out. The dining room has loads of character and feels warm, with fresh coffee, juice, bread, and pastries. Our room was a good size and had everything we needed. A few USB sockets would be handy, but that’s my only real suggestion. This is a distinctive, historic French hotel right in the medieval centre, complete with those heavy old-fashioned keyrings that took me back to childhood trips to France. If you want a sterile, modular room, IBIS might suit you better, but you’d miss what makes this place special. We booked as part of a three-day motorcycle tour around Brittany, and secure bike parking mattered a lot to me. The hotel has a good car park behind a metal gate that’s shut at night. We’d asked about motorcycle security when booking, and reception had a space ready by the front desk when we arrived, so my bike felt as safe as it could be. If you’re stopping in Dinan for a night or two, especially on two wheels, give Hotel Arvor a try. It made our stay even better.
