The homemade jams at breakfast were delicious, and we appreciated the tips for exploring the nearby villages. The owners have done a beautiful job renovating the estate. It felt like a real haven of peace, and we’d come back if we get the chance.

I really enjoyed staying here and would gladly return. The host couple were friendly and always available, and the hearty meals came with very good wines. Our room was spacious and comfortable, in a peaceful setting. The estate has been restored and furnished with great taste, set in a lovely wooded park with a swimming pool. We received a warm, welcoming greeting.

Sharing the communal dinner was a real treat. Everything was exquisite, and the wine was a delight. The hosts gave us a warm welcome and shared the history of the house. The grounds are magnificent, and the rooms are tastefully decorated. We absolutely loved this bed and breakfast and highly recommend it.

This wasn’t a movie, it was real life! After a bumpy drive up a steep hairpin bend, we reached the reception at Domaine de Rochefort in Dissangis. Evelyne and Denis welcomed us warmly. In the late afternoon heat of 37°C, we enjoyed the pool, though it’s only suitable for experienced swimmers. The pool shower wasn’t working, unfortunately. Our room was 35°C. We opened its only window, which had no shutters to keep out the sun, and left the door open all night to get a draft. We wished we’d brought a small fan. The room’s lighting was sparse, just two bedside lamps that didn’t light the whole space. There was one wall lamp in the bathroom, off to the side of the mirror. I ran some cool water from the sink to drink, then was astonished to see it come out muddy brown. Our hosts said there had been work on the town’s water network and reassured us it wasn’t their responsibility. They offered us a bottle of water. We let the tap run for a long time to clear the pipes, but we no longer felt we could shower. The peeling wallpaper went along with the room’s comfort, as did the wobbly leg on the period chair. Denis gave us a €10 discount as compensation 🤔 for two nights and a table d’hôtes. We paid cash as agreed, without an invoice. The table d’hôtes meal was delicious, warm, and well accompanied by local wine, unlike the basic breakfast. We set off again on our Moto Guzzi Stelvio toward new adventures, which I’m sure will have their own little bit of spice and unexpected charm!

We didn’t get a chance to use the lovely pool or terraces because of the weather. Still, we’d happily return to Domaine de Rochefort and recommend it to friends. Cottages are available too for groups or families. Our host gave us a very warm welcome and made room in his barn so we could park our motorcycle safely. The building and secluded grounds are magnificent, with a superb view. Our spacious room was clean, though not spotless, with a few specks of dust between the exposed beams. It had no television, but the 4G signal was excellent. I found the bed a little too soft for my taste, which is subjective. The decor fits the style of the house, though a few small repairs are needed, as some wallpaper was damaged. The set menu was a delight, and our hosts took time to chat with us. It included an aperitif, starter, main course, cheese, dessert, water, and wine. The food was locally sourced, as were the homemade jams at breakfast.
