Hotel Les Grains D'argent

The view was nice, but €300 in cash disappeared from our room. We hadn't asked for cleaning. When we came back, the door was wide open; it looked as if the cleaner had gone to lunch, and the money was gone. We plan to call the police tomorrow.

The location is perfect, and the bathroom is spacious. The staff were friendly, and some spoke English. Even in April, our room got VERY hot, and the air conditioning barely worked. I still gave it five stars because that wasn't a major issue for me, but if you're on the top floor just under the roof, be careful about the heat in summer.

We picked a suite and were glad we did. Staff are only there from 7 am to 7 pm, and outside those hours you use a code. We were unsure about that at first, but it was easy to manage. Parking was free. From here it's easy to get around. You could pay €1,000 a night for one of the high-end hotels, or stay here instead.

The food was the one thing that made this stay worth three stars. We had some very good, tasty dishes at the hotel's gastronomic restaurant, though the wine and champagne bottles were far too expensive. After a busy day tasting and buying champagne, we arrived to find the room arrangements weren't what we'd requested. We'd asked for two rooms for three people and two for two people, but only four rooms for two were available. We ended up with a suite and a regular room that was much too small. That room also smelled strongly of perfume, and the extra bed was terrible. It was way overpriced for what we got. I can't recommend the hotel right now and won't be back.
