Citotel Du Port Rhu

The location is outside the town centre, but the harbourside restaurants and boat museum are only a ten-minute walk away. The hotel works well for an overnight stop or maybe a longer stay. There's a free car park just across the street, and reception was friendly and efficient. Our room was clean and comfortable, with a spotless bathroom. The bed was firm and very comfortable, though I've never liked French pillows. The self-service breakfast had just about everything you could want, except gluten-free bread in our case.

The staff kindly stored our bikes safely after we'd spent three nights cycling and camping. We loved our stay at the hotel. The room was very comfortable and had a lovely view, and breakfast was great too.

The booking was wrong, so I had to move hotels. They agreed to cancel, but nearly two weeks later they still hadn't replied to my emails. In response to their reply: there are several errors in it. I contacted the booking agent on the 5th. They asked for the receptionist's name, and I emailed the hotel chain. The email address on their site sent me to a Paris-based centre. After several emails, they gave me a direct address for the hotel, which still hasn't been answered. I wasn't advised to contact them before the 6th. It was 19:45 on the 5th, but I did contact the booking agent. I'd say this was a very clever play by the hotel to get an empty room. As I explained to the staff, I'm diabetic and had been struggling with low blood sugar levels that day.

Parking and getting in were both easy. It's comfortable and close to town, though not right in the center. Just note that the upper floors are reached by stairs.
