Hôtel Valdys Thalasso & Spa - la Baie

The reception team was pleasant and attentive, and the hotel's reception was very good. Elsewhere, a little more warmth and organization would have made the experience much better. Some housekeeping staff didn't greet us unless we greeted them first, and a few people working around the pool also didn't say hello, which felt unwelcoming. There was rust around the pool, too, which seems unfortunate for a relaxation area. At dinner we waited a long time to be seated, and service was slow throughout. They brought us bread to tide us over, but the food itself was very good and made with quality products. Breakfast was also disorganized: the tables hadn't been cleared, we had to wait for a seat, and the staff responded rather coldly when we asked for drinks. When we got to our room, there was no sign explaining how the lights worked.

Our room was very clean and the staff were friendly and welcoming, so don't let the bad reviews put you off. The brunch was plentiful and really good, and having breakfast with a sea view was a real bonus :)

The room was okay, but the spa needs better hygiene and maintenance. Reception and breakfast service were nowhere near good enough: we were left to set up tables ourselves, and when mistakes happened, nobody apologized.

The room was comfortable, with good quality bedding, and the sea side is a nice location. The Wi-Fi, though, was very poor and kept dropping out. Parking was often full, so despite having paid for a space, I couldn't park when I got back late at night. Breakfast was a hassle. We had to ask for every little thing, from a spoon to a teapot or glass, and were seated at uncleared tables. Someone would say they'd be right back, then nobody came. The service seemed to lack any sense of priorities. Etc., etc. A new manager has just started. May the force be with him!
