Breakfast was delicious, parking is available on site if you check with reception, and lots of city attractions are within walking distance. My room was clean and everything worked as advertised, though the shower drain smelled nauseating. It was a small twin room for me alone, with all the usual comforts. The hotel is spread across several buildings, so follow the signs to reception to check in, get your key, and find your way to your building. Mine was two buildings away, which wasn’t a big deal. The location was good, and I had a lovely view of the harbour. But it wasn’t quiet, with noise from other rooms and the fridge, and there were no blinds. In winter that wasn’t much of an issue, though the early daylight would bother me. The mattress wasn’t very comfortable, and the room stayed hot even with the radiators off. The receptionist said many guests had reported the same problem, but the heating is linked throughout the building and can’t be adjusted room by room. So the sign asking guests to turn it down to save energy seemed pretty pointless.

We stayed in the main building, where the reception staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and clean. The toilet seat was very loose and should probably have been tightened or replaced by the cleaners. Also, there was no decaf coffee for the pod machine.

The newer studio was fantastic, comfortable, and had everything we needed. It was also in a great, central location. At first, though, we were given an old style room. When we saw the newer studios cost the same as what we’d paid and one was available, we asked to switch. It took a long discussion with the check-in staff, but they agreed. I’d recommend it for a short stay if you book one of the newer rooms.
