Hôtel L'Hirondelle

The Tuesday market right outside was a treat, and I felt safe here as a single mum with two young children. The room was very clean and the bed comfortable. I’d booked the wrong date, but the women were so kind and helpful with parking, cancelling, and rebooking. Loved it, thank you!

The restaurant was amazing, and the staff were friendly and helped us choose the best option. Our room was spacious and comfortable. There wasn’t a fridge or anything like that, but that was fine.

The restaurant is the main draw. I had the fish soup and a steak, and enjoyed every bit of the meal. It’s worth eating here even if you aren’t staying overnight. The attached restaurant is excellent and reasonably priced. The hotel itself is well equipped despite the small lobby. I saw both rooms and thought the Superior upgrade was worth the small extra cost. The rooms are comfortable, the staff friendly, and the price is fair. Breakfast was pretty basic, mostly bread, and felt underwhelming next to the restaurant. I’d go elsewhere nearby for breakfast or coffee. If you return late, remember there’s a door code on your room key.

The hosts were extremely kind and welcoming, and our room was spotless and comfortable. The location is perfect, just a short walk from the beach. Dunkirk has plenty of good restaurants, but the hotel’s own place is exceptional and reasonably priced. I don’t think you’ll find better value for a stay in Dunkirk.
