The Courtyard

We spent loads of time chatting and relaxing under the tree, by the pool, and on the play equipment. It was lovely seeing the kids run free and gain confidence trying new things, while we had space to reconnect as a family and meet other guests. This was our second visit to The Courtyard, and it was just as wonderful as we’d hoped. The setting is beautiful, the accommodation is comfortable, clean, and family friendly, and the atmosphere is such a tonic. Steph and Charlie go out of their way to make both adults and children feel welcome and at ease. There’s plenty to do nearby, and the facilities are good. Having the supermarket pickup ready after a long journey with kids was a blessing. We also got great local recommendations, and if you need anything, you just have to ask.

We really liked having both privacy and easy access to the shared indoor and outdoor spaces at La Maison Cachee, which suited our small family well. The facilities were great for families with children, and we had a fantastic week at the Courtyard in August 2020. Steph and her family were warm, friendly, and helpful, answered all our questions, and suggested nearby things to do for the occasional day we didn’t spend by the pool. Pizza evening was lovely too, with delicious pizzas, good company from the other guests, and social distancing respected. We understand that COVID safety measures meant many of the usual activities couldn’t happen that year, but we didn’t feel their absence at all. We really enjoyed our stay and would gladly come back.

Steph, Charlie and Finn made us feel so welcome and looked after us brilliantly. Steph’s food was generous, lovingly made, and really high quality. She can cook food from around the world, which is rare. The gated grounds have chickens to feed, friendly dogs, one of which we took for a short walk, a play area with swings and a slide, and a lovely pool with plenty of room for deckchairs or picking cherries. We had an incredible 10 days at The Courtyard with my husband and our 19 month old. The gites are beautiful and spacious, with a private garden, a really well equipped kitchen, comfy beds and sofas, and proper cots. There were also books and toys for children of all ages, plus useful extras like a highchair and a non slip mat, so we didn’t have to pack them. It’s hard to know where to start with how well set up it is for children. We can’t recommend The Courtyard enough.

The Courtyard is a lovely 4 star complex of gîtes, run as a family by Stephanie, Charly and Fin, who renovated it from 2007 onwards. We came across it by chance while touring France and stayed for a quick two night stopover. It was perfect for curling up by the fire. In summer, it’s a popular place, with a pool, activities and food available if you want it. The people running it are lovely, and I hope to visit again in season.
