Residence Pierre & Vacances Le Clos d'Eguisheim

The location is ideal for exploring by car, right in the heart of Eguisheim and very close to Colmar. The area is quiet and the buildings are lovely. We traveled with children, so the heated pool was great, and there’s an underground garage. Our room was very clean and the heating worked perfectly. They don’t provide sheets or change towels, though, and there’s only one roll of toilet paper no matter how long you stay or how many people are in your party. The price is fairly reasonable. It isn’t cheap, but nothing in Alsace is cheap at this time of year.

There’s barely any storage for two adults, just a wardrobe about 50 x 200 cm, and the apartment is advertised for four people. The bathroom and toilet are separate but both tiny. The small bedroom window only opens all the way and looks onto the main entrance. It’s also dirty, full of mosquitoes, and this is our second day without Wi-Fi. Since I’d paid upfront, I couldn’t bring myself to cancel when we arrived. It really isn’t worth the price.

It’s peaceful at night, and the center of Eguisheim is less than a 10-minute walk away. The outdoor areas look fairly new, built in the old style of villages in this region. Inside, space is tight, especially beside the double bed, where there’s only 20-30 cm to change clothes. There’s no extractor hood, so be careful what you cook. A fan-like noise from the kitchen and dining area carries on all night, though it’s quiet enough not to disturb sleep. Service is limited depending on when you need help. They say staff will do the cleaning, but no one came, and there are no cleaning supplies in the apartments. The place is just adequate and starting to show its age. It doesn’t seem to get much maintenance.

The heated indoor pool was a real plus, whatever the weather, and the residence was clean and laid out very well. The staff were friendly and attentive. Early in our stay, the dishwasher gave us trouble, and the technician came by very quickly. We spent nearly two weeks at Clos d'Eguisheim, right in the village and just five minutes from the center. It’s a very good place to stay in a beautiful destination. I highly recommend it.
