The little kitchenette, washing machine and ironing facilities were especially useful during our two weeks here. Evelyn worked so hard to make our stay perfect, and nothing was too much trouble for her. She’s a lovely person, and we’ll remember this as one of those special holidays. We stayed at this beautiful, homely place for two weeks and could happily have stayed longer. The setting is stunning, with woods, hills, horses, plants and wildlife, birds of prey overhead and sunsets to drool over. We went to Andorra, about 1 &1/2 hours away, hiked up mountains to clear blue water, visited castles and walked down gorges. Lovely Mirepoix was only 20 minutes away, Foix under an hour, and we also visited Carcassonne and many characterful little villages in the Arieges. The home-from-home touches and refreshing pool were gorgeous, especially watching the sun go down. Thank you so much, Evelyn. x

Such charming, welcoming people and a really warm reception. There’s plenty of space and comfort in a lovely, peaceful country setting. I highly recommend it if you’re after something special.

The horses were very well cared for, and the owners went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. We stayed one night while on a horseback riding trip, and both we and the horses received a warm welcome. The room was comfortable, and breakfast was excellent, with homemade and local products. We'll definitely return!

The surroundings made this a truly magical getaway, and we'd gladly do it again. Our room was tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. Breakfast was so varied and tempting I couldn't resist, despite my best intentions! At Domaine de la Barre, everything felt perfect. The owners were incredibly welcoming and always willing to help with our requests.
