La Palmeraie des Calanques

We came as a couple for a few days in August 2014, then returned for a full week in July 2015. It already feels like our second home. Brigitte, Robert and their friendly staff deserve a lot of credit for the lovely atmosphere, and the weather helped too. The rooms are air conditioned, with a cool balcony, excellent beds and good bathroom provisions. There are only five rooms, I think, so it always feels relaxed. The small pool and rooftop jacuzzi are nice to have, though we usually went to the beach. Nearby there are quiet little beaches, while Carry le rouet and sausset le pin are busier towns a bit farther away. You’ll need a car, though Marseille can also be reached by train. If you’re after crowds of Dutch, German, English and Russian visitors, places like St. Tropez or Cassis are options. Here it’s an easygoing French feel in luxurious surroundings. Breakfast is really good, so don’t expect to be dieting, unless you run or walk it off. There are plenty of chances for that nearby. Our hosts also gave us useful information in English, since we still need to work on our French.
