The garden was a lovely surprise, a peaceful little oasis, and we really enjoyed both the breakfast and the breakfast room. The house is beautiful, the owners very welcoming, and our room was large and tastefully decorated. We highly recommend this place!

The breakfast was the highlight for me, and it's easy to see why other reviews praised it. The table was packed with little pots of fresh fruit, mini rice puddings, breads, fluffy brioche, honey, jams, spreads, cheeses, charcuterie, crepes, eggs cooked to order, fresh orange juice, coffee in cafetieres, a Nespresso machine, lots of teas, and hot chocolate. The service was friendly and attentive without hovering. I only wish we'd had longer to enjoy it. We made a brief overnight stop on the way to LeShuttle and didn't get time to explore, but the charming town of Eu drew us in enough to plan another visit. The house sits on a quiet one-way lane near the centre, just a few minutes' walk from the magnificent Chateau. Booking was easy, and Alexandra, the owner, sent lots of local tourist information and restaurant suggestions on WhatsApp. Her husband Eric checked us in and gave us a relaxed, friendly tour of the characterful house, the rooms, the contemporary breakfast area, the top floor salon, and the walled garden. Luckily, they both speak excellent English. Our kids also enjoyed meeting one of the two resident cats, asleep on the front steps when we arrived. We had three lovely rooms: ‘Verte Valleuse’, with twin beds, and ‘Lilas de Mer’, 10cm wider than an English ‘king-size’, both with high ceilings and large front windows, plus ‘Le Pavillon’, a two-storey maisonette with its own entrance and kitchenette in the front courtyard. They were all stylishly furnished with thoughtful details, and the whole house was spotless. The room had charcoal-infused water, a Nespresso machine, tea bags, and a price list for drinks and snacks, though we only found bottles of white and rose in the mini fridge. Sitting by the tall open windows with a chilled bottle of rosé (€13) in the afternoon sun, looking at the view, was lovely. For dinner we followed one of Alexandra's suggestions and booked Le Bragance, in the chateau's old icehouse. The food and drinks were nice, and the setting lovely, though service was a little hit and miss. It was a good recommendation. The beds had good, comfortable mattresses, and the shower rooms had quality fittings and excellent showers with strong water pressure. A couple of small downsides: the macerator toilet rumbled after flushing, and we could hear people walking on the bare floorboards in the room above. It's a lovely place for an overnight stop, but we needed more time to soak up the atmosphere.

We had a great stay!

Alexandra was attentive and helpful, even recommending and booking dinner tables for us in Eu, which we really appreciated. We spent four nights in her charming, historic villa and enjoyed every moment. Our room was spacious, cosy, and comfortable, and the villa was tastefully furnished with lovely attention to detail. Breakfast was delicious, nicely presented, and served in a lovely setting. We also spent some wonderfully relaxing hours in the beautiful garden. Chiara & Ernesto

We only stayed four nights and still felt short on time, so we'll definitely come back. Alexandra, the owner, gave us such a warm welcome to this superb house, decorated with a subtle touch. Breakfast was a real treat for its quality and variety. I highly recommend it.
