There was no heating because it was broken, and the room was rotten. There were bed bugs too. I was lucky to get two hours of sleep before leaving in the middle of the night, exhausted. My son left the room and slept in the car, which isn’t what I paid good money for when I needed a night’s rest. This was a complete waste of money and failed to serve any purpose as a hotel. The place was cheap, but a broken heater and bed bugs are no kind of bargain. Looking back at reviews from five years ago, it seems they couldn’t care less about providing a clean, functional service. Just another money grab for a despicable service. The reply to my review was laughable. They said I only leave poor reviews, which is a complete lie: my last 20 reviews averaged three or four stars. I only leave poor reviews for genuinely bad experiences or terrible service, and vice versa, which is why the system exists. It was a bizarre comment. And to the author, I’ve spent the last 20 years travelling through Europe daily, not yearly or weekly. The moral is that they don’t like criticism of their shoddy hotel chain.

The breakfast buffet was small but had plenty to choose from: a couple of cereals, toast, yoghurt, coffee, juice, several jams, butter, Nutella, and a few other breads, including soft, yummy brioche buns. The staff were friendly. Our twin room was small but functional, and looked dated and well used. It was relatively clean, though it smelled strongly of cigarette smoke despite being marked non-smoking. A pillow from the other bed smelled of cigarettes too, so I suspect the sheets on that bed hadn’t been changed since the last guest. The bathroom was squeezed into a small triangle in the corner. It worked, but the shower was so tiny you’d have to be about five years old to fit comfortably.

At about 2100 on the last evening, there was a lot of noise outside. Someone was playing really loud music, and someone else was kicking or banging on a door. The room seemed somewhat unclean, and there was no duvet, just a blanket. The bed cover was dirty and had holes. I wouldn’t recommend staying here at this time, as others have said. For the price, I’ve paid less for much better places. It’s far too expensive for what you get. It seems the owners don’t care about making guests want to return. I’d only recommend it if you were paid to stay, and even then, bring a sleeping bag or something.

It’s cheap, clean, and fine for an overnight stop, but it’s far from première classe. The room is a shoebox, with cigarette burns on the ceiling, a bizarre spaceship-like toilet cubicle, and thin walls. You can hear the neighbours in all eight rooms around you. Watch for the entrance, which is obscured and too narrow. Take the hotel turn before the motorway onramp, or you’ll end up driving around in circles for an extra 10 minutes.

The doors both hit the bed, so neither opens all the way. There are lots of holes and stains in the bedding, and the tiny room has a lot of mold. The bathroom has almost no shower space unless you leave the curtains open, which floods the whole room. It smells as if somebody smoked in here, even though it’s a non-smoking room.
