Villa l'Eden Vert

The setting is still beautiful, but that doesn't make up for the poor hygiene and outdated equipment. We spent three days here over Christmas, a family of 13, and rented the whole property. Fortunately, because the house only sleeps nine and there's no sofa bed in the living room. We arrived to find the house and outbuildings freezing, and the owner hadn't checked that the cleaning was done or even inspected the rental. The furniture and bedding were dilapidated. The mattress protectors, duvets, and pillows were stained and yellowed, and the dishes and glasses were dirty and sticky, so we had to wash them all. There were cobwebs everywhere and dirty floors. The circuit breakers kept tripping whenever we turned on the oven. At bedtime, the cabin was bitterly cold. The mezzanine window seemed to have been open for weeks, with dead leaves across the floor, the heaters had gone off overnight, and it was 6°C inside. Air came in under the front doors too. The summer photos mostly show the gardens, pool, cabin, and keep, and don't give a sense of how cramped the living room is. Only the keep met our expectations, and it seems the villa is rented out only in summer. We put up with all of this so it wouldn't spoil Christmas or our time together as a family.

The photos on the website look beautiful, but the place was completely different in reality. The grounds were badly maintained, and they had just mowed a path, leaving the grass and vegetation as they were. The house was filthy, with no cleaning done at all. We had to clean it ourselves before our weekend guests arrived, then everyone pitched in again at the end. What a disgrace. We arrived for the price of the weekend and didn't feel welcome at all. The terrace was black and hadn't been cleaned since winter, the house and bathroom were dirty, and the dungeon smelled damp and musty. The birdhouse was the only part that was passable, but even then, my advice is to go somewhere else. I strongly advise against renting this place and hope this review helps others avoid it. I live 50 km away, but I'll never rent it again.

A quiet villa surrounded by nature, with two optional outbuildings also available to rent. It's a good choice for a romantic weekend, a family stay, or a few days away with friends. The host was very kind too. I recommend it.

That wonderful setting and the owner’s warm, discreet welcome made this a lovely week for all of us. We rented the villa, the keep, and the little cabin for 11 people, and having two separate buildings gave us some privacy. The grounds had everything we needed, including a pétanque court, ping-pong table, and a big pool with plenty of sun loungers. Speaking for the whole family, we couldn’t find a single negative. We’d recommend it 100%!
