La Maison George

The apartment itself was perfect for our stay, and the place and village are lovely. But after our nine hour drive with kids, we arrived on a Sunday evening in April to find no check in details or key box code. The front door was open, but we couldn't get into our room. We called twice and nobody answered. Another guest needed their key box number, so we managed to work out which box was ours. The staff's lack of care was unacceptable. We never heard from anyone afterward, not even to ask how we got in or how the stay went. It's a shame, because the village and property are amazing.

The bedroom window gave us an amazing view of the full moon, and the brilliant bed meant we slept so well. The place was immaculate and spacious. It exceeded every hope I had for a short stay, and is the best place I've ever booked.

Our room was cute and comfortable, but we felt left to ourselves. We saw the staff once, when we arrived, and never again, not even at checkout. My husband needed to work and I had expected he could use the bar, but it stayed closed throughout our three night stay. The bar and restaurant being shut made things difficult, since there isn't much to do or many places to eat in town. I'd been looking forward to the visit after seeing the photos.

I stayed in the Edith room at La Maison George and loved it. The room was nicely decorated, with a kitchen that had everything I needed, and I especially liked that the rooms are named after inspiring women. During the heatwave, Julia kindly poured me a glass of wine while I sat on the terrace with my dog. Flavigny-sur-Ozerain is one of France's prettiest villages.
