We had another lovely two weeks here in August 2019, and it was our second visit. The gite is well equipped, the hosts are lovely, and it's simply a great place to stay. We especially enjoyed fishing, cycling and swimming in the excellent heated private pool on site. There are several lovely towns nearby to explore, and we were happy to visit Amboise again, one of our favourites. We came home to England with lots of happy memories from a lovely holiday.
The wine tour is a must if you stay here. Jane took us to three vineyards one afternoon, where we tasted and bought local wine. Jane and Doug are wonderful hosts, and we'll definitely return. We were lucky enough to win a stay at La Maison de Maitre along with the tour, and couldn't praise it highly enough. The clean, comfortable gite has everything you need, and the lovely gardens have plenty of space to relax and eat outside. The heated pool was clean and much appreciated after a hot drive. It's an ideal place to unwind or visit nearby towns and markets.
We loved watching the farmers bring in the wheat and visiting nearby villages, chateaux and markets. The lakeside beach at L’Etang de Bellbouche is great for families. Our group of six adults, a three-year-old and a baby had plenty of room in the lovely gîte, and we used the fantastic heated pool every day. It was maintained daily. The location is peaceful, yet close to the local boulangerie, restaurants and supermarkets. We'd love to come back for another full family holiday.
A brilliant pool, a big garden with loads of games, and a beautiful, peaceful setting made for a fantastic family getaway. We were here with four adults and five children aged 4 to 10. The hosts were friendly and really helpful. 😊👍
The owners were so friendly, and many thanks to Mrs. and Mr. Gardner for a great vacation. (The fireman) The large house was well equipped for a family holiday, and the pool was great in the hot weather. From here, you can explore the region, with Beauval Zoo, Futuroscope and castles all within a reasonable distance. We had a great stay.
