Brit Hotel Confort Foix

Skip this place. The rooms and shower were dirty, and it felt like the middle of nowhere. The Buffalo Grill next door was awful too, with food that seemed reheated.

Foix is a lovely town, and if you don't want to pay for an expensive hotel, this is a reasonable choice. The rooms are small, with a prefabricated laminate bathroom that reminded me of an airplane, a bit like Formula 1. It was clean, ordinary and average, good enough for a night while traveling. The girls at reception were really kind and beautiful, so thanks for that.

I slept well here, and parking on the hotel's own grounds was free. Wi-Fi was free too, though it only worked for one device. I stayed in June 2017 while traveling from The Netherlands through France to Spain. The English-speaking receptionist gave me a warm welcome, and my ground-floor room was large and modern. The air conditioning worked very well, and the bathroom was adapted for older guests, with a folding shower chair. Dinner was a buffet from 19:00 to 20:30, and for about 18 euros I had three courses, not including drinks like Nestea at 2.90 euros. I tried the locally made Basque pie and cheese for dessert and can recommend them. Breakfast was also buffet style, with fresh bread. At checkout I got discount tickets for 'chateau Foix' and a suggestion to see 'Chateau Roquefixade' on the way to Lavelanet. I didn't make it to chateau Foix, though, because finding parking on a Friday with the local market was a nightmare. One car park was closed for maintenance.

The hosts were great and very accommodating. They moved us to a more suitable hotel in the area because the other one was apparently noisier, though we hadn't noticed any noise ourselves. Recommended.
